So, this is the outfit I paired with the bracelet today! I actually really love the colour tones and contrasts in the outfit. From the silver jewelry, the pumpkin nails, wine and fuchsia coloured tops to the turquoise stone the colours really popped. The simplicity of the outfit itself also really helped highlight my new creation.
The outfit fit the bill for me in that it was really simple and comfortable but, had lots of little details to fill out the look. Especially loved are the little screw-on silver earrings my nanny gifted me a few years back. They’re one of my most treasured pieces of jewelry – and really, possessions. I believe she received them when she was in her late teens, early twenties which puts them around late thirties – early forties. I’m no vintage jewelry expert though so I could be mistaken.
Also, another love is my moonstone and sterling silver ring I purchased from Olivier Soaps, at the former stall in the Saint John City Market. I’m a bit foggy on the details but the store owner mentioned to me that the sterling silver creation was made by a designer in British Colombia. This ring as has a special place in my heart because I thought I’d lost it a couple of months back. I tore around my house looking for it multiple times and also bugged a number of people to check their houses only to find it behind my dresser when I was moving – oops!
Once again this outfit demonstrates my love of chiffon and lace – and that’s probably the last time I should go on about that obsession in a post for awhile!
I’d previously made an Indian-style bracelet like this before; however, I was never completely happy with it. After scouring Pinterest and seeing a few more examples of bracelets and chain jewelry this morning, I was inspired anew. I tried it again this time with layers of chain (silver and copper) and one beautiful turquoise coin.
It’s been awhile since I’ve actually had the chance to make jewelry too, but I might have the bug again. I’m thinking about following the trend and making a chain crown/headband, but I also saw a BEAUTIFUL chain sleeve/epaulette by Fleet Jewelry which I am so inspired by and cannot wait to get started making my own version – just need to save up the money to buy some quality chain for it.
As far as this bracelet goes I’m pretty happy with the result. When I showed it to Christian he said it was “different” which I wasn’t sure how to take until he saw my expression and clarified that he did like it (boyfriends, ha!). We’ll see how well I can introduce it into my wardrobe over the next little bit. I’ve been thinking I needed a different kind of bracelet. Check back later to see how I wore it today!
Also, in case any of you were wonder my nails are painted with Joe Fresh nail polish in Pumpkin. You can also find a.d follow me on Pinterest here.
